A message from our school Prefects
Prefects are 6th year students who help bridge the gap between the student body and staff members within our school. We advocate for change and organise events to raise awareness for charities that we believe represent our school ethos. Prefects are chosen through an interview process and embody the spirit of Skerries Community College.
The Prefect team can be identified by the red badges worn above the school crest on our uniforms. This helps other students to recognise a friendly face who is always willing to help and voice concerns when needed.
Meetings are held weekly to ensure we stay involved and productive in our role. The team works together towards solving issues from a student perspective, striving to make our school a fun and welcoming environment.
At the beginning of each year, the new Prefect group meets to discuss their core values. We believe it is important to keep these values central to our discussions and decisions. These values differ slightly from year to year, however our aim for inclusivity is unwavering.
The student leadership initiative is an integral part of our school community, maintaining a positive atmosphere and a well-rounded school experience. Prefects help ensure that student life in SCC is focused on personal development and participation, as well as the academics.
