Young Scientist Exhibition

Good luck to our students taking part in the Young Scientist Exhibition in the RDS this week.  We have four projects taking part.

College Events

November 2011

  • Information Night held for parents of First Years 2012/2013.
  • Visit by Institute of Chartered Accountants to Sixth year Accounting Class.
  • HSE administered second vaccine to first and sixth year girls.
  • The College Annual Musical“Grease” was held and was very successful.  Well done to all involved.
  • Sean Martin, Fifth year,  to be awarded with a prize by DCU Business School, having achieved one of the highest results in Junior Cert Business Studies examination 2011,  in Dublin area.
  • DATs held for all third year classes.
  • Parent Teacher Meeting held for parents of Third year students.
  • Visit by Oisin Mc Cann, Author, to College Library and he met with students.
  • TY and Fifth year students took part in Maths Olympiad Test.
  • Information Evening held for parents of Third years.
  • Project Maths Inservice  ongoing.
  • Parents Association held Study Skills Seminar for Fifth and Sixth year students.
  • Sixth Year Music class attended performance of Classical works on Leaving Certificate course in theNational Concert Hall
  • Ciaran Brennan, Sixth year 2010/2011, awarded DCU Scholarship based on his Leaving Cert. result of over 500 points.
  • November Mass of Remembrance and Remembrance Day was held in the College Oratory.
  • Inservice on Restorative Justice held for staff.
  • Three students, Aebh Kelly, Lainey O’Sullivan and Claire O’Brien all second years, participated in the “School Stars Talent Competition” in TLT Drogheda. Aebh was awarded joint second place in the Final. The judging panel Louis Walsh.
  • Shoebox Appeal:  Students gathered an incredible 220 shoeboxes for the 'Shoe Box' appeal. 
  • Prefects raised €750.00 for Diabetes Ireland with a Sponsored Fast.

December 2011

  • Emily Daly, Sixth year 2010/2011 has achieved the best result in Leaving Cert Business in the 2011 examination. She will be awarded a Gold Medal by the Business Studies Teacher Association in the new year.
  • Congratulations to our Debating Team, Caragh O'Hanlon, Karen McMahon, Hannah Gibney and substitute Joy Deduku on their win in the Regional Heat of the 31st Annual Mental Health Ireland Debating competition.
  • Training held for student Mentors.
  • All TY students attended a Road Safety awareness Workshop in Helix.
  • Mass was held in the Oratory for staff and students to celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
  • Congratulations to Daniel Condren, Michael Halpin and Evan McLoughlin who came 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Library Chess Tournament.
  • History Week organised by the History teachers, with displays, projects and films during the week.
  • The annual Christmas Party for St. Michael's House students was hosted by 6th Year students on Friday, 9th December. Santa was in attendance and a good time was had by all.
  • Junior Certificate Music students attended a performance of the Classical Works for Junior Cert examination, in the NCH.
  • Congratulations to Oisin O'Leary and Shane Hickey who were part of the Co Dublin Vocational Schools Team who defeated Wicklow in the Leinster Quarter Final on Friday, 9th December.  Good luck in the Semi-final.
  • The students of the College collected 35 very large hampers for the annual St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Hamper Appeal.  The hampers were collected by members of the local St. Vincent de Paul Society.
  • 5th Year students raised over €250 with a collection for Aware.
  • Inservice held for staff on the use of Interactive Whiteboard in teaching and learning.
  • Transition Year students raises €600 for the Peter McVerry Trust with a Sponsored Silence.
  • The Christmas Carol Service will be held on Thursday, 22nd December in the College.
  • TY students attended a Photography Workshop in the College.
  • TY students are organising a Charity Christmas Fair for Focus Ireland in the Canteen on Tuesday, 20th December.  They are also selling Candy Cones at 50c each and these will be distributed on Tuesday.
  • Photographs of 6th Year students are being taken on Friday, 16th December for their Year Book.
